This kitchen was part of an entire house renovation. The Scandinavian husband and his Brazilian wife posed an interesting combination of contemporary and striking colors. We designed the entire house and completed construction in four months, for $200,000.00. The 2000 sq. ft. house is a typical Queen Anne Dutch Colonial. We updated virtually every surface in the house, both interior and exterior, including all new windows, siding, plumbing, heating and electrical. All before their new baby was born! The most engaging aspect of this project was using interesting materials; concrete tile in the bathroom, Brazilian cherry hardwood floors in the kitchen and bathroom, natural fir cabinets in the kitchen and traditional windows throughout. We added a formal entrance, and a bathroom on the main floor, typically lacking in this style of house. On the whole, at about $100.00 per sq. ft., it was a very efficient and timely remodel. When asked where he would he like to live if his start-up company ever went public and he became a billionaire, the owner’s answer was, "Right here in this great little house.”
