I’m a Seattle-based digital designer with over 25 years of experience and a penchant for helping early-stage companies get off the ground. Wearing many hats on my slightly balding head makes me happy.
I began my career at a small creative agency working in what was then called “multimedia.” My projects during this nine-year span included web and interactive design, animation, video editing, audio production, and 3D modeling.
When I joined Big Fish Games as Director of Creative Services I was only their third employee. I built the brand, created the website, and designed the first dozen games. As the company grew and expanded, I supported the marketing effort.
Four years later, I became an independent designer working out of my home office. For the next seven years, I serviced a large range of clients from small businesses to large enterprise technology companies. Mobile applications became a major focus of my design practice during this period.
I discovered the thrill of working with early-stage companies as Design Lead at Turi (formerly GraphLab, then Dato). I designed their brand and, later, their machine learning platform product UI. Apple acquired the company just two years after I was hired.
When I joined their team, EarthX was developing web-based software tools to visualize geospatial data. The objective was to transform complex data sets into visually intelligible layers with which compelling narratives, called “GeoStories,” could be built. As their Chief Design Officer, I designed the UI/UX for the mobile app and desktop publishing tools as well as the brand, website, and marketing collateral.
In my current role as Lead Designer for Beddr Sleep, a home-based, wearable, sleep monitoring device, I’m responsible for the UI/UX design of the mobile app, the website, and all marketing collateral.
