This is an exterior deck and trellis detail off of an addition we worked on two years ago. The idea was to create a cool spot to sit and enjoy the view of Mount Rainier. The customer was very interested in seeing traditional mortise and tenon joinery on all of the clear 6 x 6 structural supports. It really dressed up what was a fairly plain exterior bedroom window. We added a double set of French doors that could be left open at night or during the day while the owner worked from his home office. Again, the importance of connecting to the outside while being inside was a fun challenge for us.
